Hello! Here’s this week’s new music post, which kicks off by the surprise new single from Fickle Friends. Tucked in at the bottom below the spotify playlist is also the new video from Dog in the Snow taken from their forthcoming album Vanishing Lands:

It’s been a few weeks since out last post for which we can only apologise – we had a holiday, then jet lag, and only now we’re back on the blogging wagon. In that time both The Magic Gang and Fickle Friends have released their albums, and it seems to have been one of the busiest periods for other bands to share new music. We’d have no hope of catching up if we wrote up our new music post the way we normally do, with us much info as we have and details of any upcoming gigs, so for this post we’re going to keep things brief – just names of bands and tracks – and hopefully by next week we can get back to normal.

New Brighton Music

Here’s this week’s New Music post. Often new releases slow down around festival season, but Brighton’s bands? No Way.

Orbital‘s comeback has been properly cemented – their comeback in February was technically a remix, so its good to have some proper new material from the Hartnoll brothers with their new single Copenhagen:

Brighton Music Blog Great Escape / Alt Escape 2017 preview

TGE17
It’s almost that time again – the highlight in the Brighton musical calendar, when anywhere you can fit in a PA becomes venue for a few days. Yes, this coming weekend is The Great Escape Festival. We haven’t finalised our plans, but we’re probably going to end up seeing more Alt Escape stuff than proper Great Escape stuff, because that’s where the bulk of the local bands are playing. If you haven’t got yourself a ticket yet then you can get into all the Alt Escape stuff without one anyway.

New Brighton Music

Hello! We’ve got a whole load of new music to share this week, so I’m going to skip the preamble (which is normally the bit that takes the longest to write anyway) and jump straight in with Hello Hello – the new single from Fickle Friends:

New Brighton Music

Although we’re managing to be fairly regular with our posts these days we haven’t actually made a new music post since the start of November, so we’ve got a bit of catching up to do. The first track we’re going to write about is very new though – the band’s first release (although both members are very established musicians) and only went online at the weekend. The band in question is called Fröst, and they’re made up of Johanna Bramli, who currently sings with The Larsens, but was also a member of Stereolab offshoot Imitation Electric Piano and The Woo!Worths (who we wrote about in the early days of the blog) and Fujiya & Miyagi’s Steve Lewis. The track’s called Crackling On The Wire, and if you like the sound of their motoric psychedelia their first gig is at the Rose Hill on 2nd December: Continue reading

New Brighton Music

We’ve been writing about albums more than individual tracks and without realising suddenly there’s loads to catch up. So without further ado, here’s the new one from Fujiya & Miyagi. It’s the first track to be shared from EP2, the follow up to EP1 which came out earlier this year. The track’s called Outstripping (The Speed of Light) and is out on 28th October. Fujiya & Miyagi have also announced a mini tour taking in Paris, Istanbul, Barcelona and Bristol, ending up in Brighton at The Haunt on 11th November:

Nipping in quickly before The Great Escape turns the city crazy, here’s another round of new music. A few of the bands we’re going to mention are playing at the Great Escape too, so we’ll give their sets a mention while we’re here. First up is a new video from The Fiction Aisle, whose debut album came out at the end of last year, and whose next album is already on the way. Here’s a track that isn’t from either though – Will I Get Where I’m Going Before I’m Ready? will apparently appear on the band’s third long player. Thomas White and his band play at Bar Rogue on Friday at 6pm as part of the Earworm Events / Northbrook College stage: Continue reading

New Brighton Music

It’s been a few weeks since our last New Music post, and we were playing catchup with that one, so there’s a lot of ground to cover. Here’s a selection of our favourite tunes that have come to our attention in the last couple of weeks.

First up is Our Girl with their debut single Sleeper, the coolest four minutes of guitar music we’ve heard in a while:
