New Brighton Music

Another week chock full of new Brighton music for you all. First band this week is Black Biro who have just put up their new track The Organist of Agony. Black Biro play the Prince Albert this Saturday, picking up a headline slot on only their second gig:

Abattoir Blues announced their debut EP Blinded last week. They’ve shared the title track which you can hear below, and you can hear the rest of the EP when it’s released on 24th November. The band head out on tour in December, finishing up with a gig on 15th at The Haunt.

Bad Family‘s second EP, imaginatively entitled EP2 comes out on 17th November. The first taster of this is On Your Wall which was shared online yesterday:

The new The Academy of Sun album Codex Novena comes out on 9th November, and is being launched with a gig at the Hope & Ruin on 16th November. It’s preceded by a single called Some Boys Like Thunder which you can watch below:

News arrived of the new Matt Finucane EP while I’ve been typing this blog, so this is hot off the press. Threaten Me With Your Love came out yesterday on Light Crude, and will be a followed up with another already finished EP early next year

I don’t know a great deal about King Kuda. Their new EP Lately / Halfway to Neptune is on Soundcloud and Spotify, but I can’t seem to find them anywhere else online (although there are a lot of other King Kudas on twitter and Facebook). Here’s side one of their new release anyway:

The latest Fond of Rudy single came out on 13th October. To Be Mine is the follow up to July’s L O V E and the mail we received promised some live dates, although didn’t give any detail of them. We’ll keep you posted.

Finally, Jungfrau, who are supporting Red Deer People at their single launch on 10th November at the Hope & Ruin, dropped their Glass Neck EP last weekend. Here’s Oysters and Jewels from the EP:

New Brighton Music

So, it’s been a few weeks. Sorry about that. No excuses really, but I never get around to blogging too much when it’s sunny out, even when actually what I’m doing in the evenings is trying to get a baby to sleep. Ho hum. Anyway, music. Continue reading

It’s baby sister the Alternative Great Escape will soon be eclipsing the main event.. with the 2016 lineup proving to be even stronger. One of the things I love about the alternative events, is not only are they in your standard live music venues, but you’ll also see them hosted in at your favourite bagel bar, vintage clothes shop or even courtyard. Here are my top 10 highlights for this year’s Alternative Escape: Continue reading
