Sometimes I wonder when I make these posts if I ever get any visitors from that corner of Liverpool who might feel like they’re being referenced. Who knows? Maybe they click away as soon as they realise, or maybe they stop and check out what the south coast has to offer? Anyway, onto that new music:
Here’s this week’s New Music Roundup. We’re kicking things off with When She Flashes Her Smile at Me by Inwards. It’s taken from their forthcoming album Diesel which comes out on 27th April on Small Pond:
Jumanjiheadline the Haunt tomorrow night, playing the local date of their tour supporting their debut EP For Now which came out last Friday:
Next up is Heirloom with their new track Femme. You can catch them supporting Demob Happy this Saturday at The Haunt:
Ethan Barton is a songwriter originally from Devon but is now studying in Brighton. He released his More Happier EP in January, but didn’t promote it at the time and is now trying to get it out there, and we’re happy to oblige:
Luvia‘s debut single For You was released last Friday on My Little Empire records. If you’re going to the Great Escape then there’s a high chance of catching her – it seems that she’s playing at least three gigs over the weekend.
Scab Hand have a new EP out. Sparse Anatomy was released last week and was produced by Marc R Norris from Eighties Matchbox B-Line Disaster. Here’s EP opener Turkey:
Also out last Friday was Elaina Bel‘s new release So Far:
Tim Woodbridge got in touch with us at the end of last month to tell us about his upcoming single. It’s called Outside and is out now:
Sit Down released their Cheap Luxe EP at the end of March. Here’s opener Mothership. The next chance to catch Sit Down in Brighton will be at Bad Pond Festival at the end of this month:
Black Peaks single Can’t Sleep came out a few weeks ago, but we’ve been a bit slow off the mark. Sorry guys. They’re off on tour soon, but with no Brighton date announced. They’re playing plenty of festivals over the summer though, and who knows what else is left to be announced:
Breathe Panel released their new track Carmine recently. The band have an album coming in July on Fatcat Records which you can probably hear some of live when they play at the Spectrum Record Store Day gig at the Dome on 21st April:
Last, but by no means least we have Zofff who have put out their third album fff, continuing the psychedelic journey of their first two records. Live dates are in the pipeline, but nothing has been announced yet.
Here’s this week’s new music roundup, as eclectic as always. First up is Mayday by The Go! Team, which we’ve previously featured the audio of, but there’s a proper video for it now, and it also gives us a chance to remind you all that their gig this weekend has been moved to the Concorde: Continue reading →
So, that’s January pretty much done with, which means it’s time for our February gig roundup. First up is an all dayer at the Green Door Store this Saturday from our friends over at Brighton Noise. Thanks to the Facebook event saying “in no particular order” we can’t quite work out who’s headlining out of Dirty White Fever, Breathe Panel, Garden Centre, Penelope Isles (playing songs from their individual solo projects), Leatherhead, Tilt, Merlin Tonto, Perch and the National Intelligence Agency, but we trust their judgement and it’ll be great whatever you get to see. A few days later than anticipated (aren’t we always apologising for late posts?) here’s a few of the gigs happening around town in August.
First up is a series of gigs at the Joker called “Wanna Hang?”. They’re taking place every Tuesday in August (so there’s been one already and the next is tomorrow night). The future gigs see headlines from Breathe Panel, The New Tusk and Beachtape, but there’s four bands on each night. Tickets are only a mere three pounds which strikes us as a bargain.
Next Sunday is what’s probably Brighton Music Blog faves grasshopper‘s last gig for a while. They’re on the bill with Murder Boys and Strange Cagesat The Prince Albert.
The following night (Monday 14th August), Brighton Noise are also putting on a night at the Prince Albert. It’s headlined by 80’s Matchbox B-line disaster spin-off Piano Wire, and also has T House from Charlottefield / Sweet Williams on the line up, but we’re most interested in this gig because it’s the debut performance from Black Bunny, Thomas White’s new band. So, it’s been a few weeks. Sorry about that. No excuses really, but I never get around to blogging too much when it’s sunny out, even when actually what I’m doing in the evenings is trying to get a baby to sleep. Ho hum. Anyway, music. Continue reading →
