New Brighton Music
Time for another new music post. This time around we’ve got new ones from Orchards (who also announced details of their new album this week, which you can pre-order from their website), and Wax Machine (which can be pre-ordered through their bandcamp page amongst other places) who also appear on the new Hill album which is included too. Clowwns at the Hope & Ruin gallery
Last night Clowwns played at the Hope & Ruin (supported by Mum Dad and the Kids, but we got there a bit late for them because Clowwns played a two sets). The band, who disppeared off the scene for a few years are back for 2020, and played a mix of old and new songs, all as tight and angular as they ever were. Lighting was provided by the seemingly omnipresent Innerstrings (who’s also going to be hard at work next weekend running Lewes Psych Fest, alongside last night’s promoter Melting Vinyl). It’s been a while since we’ve put up a gallery of live image, but we brought our camera out to Penelope Isles‘ homecoming gig at Chalk earlier this week. It was their hundredth this year, and one of a handful with projections from Innerstrings. Support was the debut performance from Itchy Kid (who would also join Penelope Isles for a song in their set) and Ciel (who were joined by Jack Wolter for one of their songs). November / December gig previews
It’s the fourth of November and we haven’t got around to this month’s gig preview post yet. That means we’ve missed out on telling you about Tru Thoughts 20th Birthday Party which was at Patterns on Saturday, and British Sea Power’s all dayer at the Concorde yesterday. There’s still a lot of other gigs to tell you about though, including a couple in December – The music world shuts down towards the end of November and only posts end of year lists, so I’m including them now so they don’t get missed.
