New Brighton Music

Almost our last New Music round up of the year – of the decade, thinking about things. Not much gets released in December, so there’ll probably be maybe one more, then we’ll have some kind of end of year post, which I haven’t really thought about yet. Anyway, here’s what to listen to this week: Continue reading

Here’s this week’s new music post, which features the return of Orchards who today announced their biggest headline tour to date. Gone are the days of seeing them in small venues like the Hope & Ruin or the Prince Albert – their next gig in Brighton will be in April at Chalk. Continue reading

New Brighton Music

There’s loads of new music this week, but before I get on with that, there’s been a couple of comments on social media after the new music posts from people pointing out that I haven’t featured their band. Neither of these acts had actually sent us any links or information, which makes things quite difficult – while we try to be proactive we aren’t omniscient and things do pass us by. The best way of getting in touch to get featured is to drop a mail to BrightonMusicBlog@gmail.com, with soundcloud / bandcamp / youtube links (or Spotify if you must, but as you’ll see below they don’t look great on blogs powered by WordPress), making sure you mention that you’re from Brighton if we don’t know you.

Artist: Orbital
Track Name: P.H.U.K (edit)
Taken From: P.H.U.K single

New Brighton Music

Here’s this week’s new music post, two weeks after our last one – we were out of the country last week though, so we’re playing catchup a bit now. Our first tune this week is from Brighton supergroup Alien Stadium, made up of Steve Mason and Primal Scream‘s Martin Duffy. Their first release is a track called This One’s for the Humans, a lolloping almost-baggy almost-bluesy number which is taken from a mini LP called Livin’ in Elizabethan Times which gets released on 1st December. Have a dig around for the version that’s up on Spotify which clocks in over six minutes long and gets a much more psychedelic groove on.

It’s been far too long since we made a new music post – transcribing the recent interview took forever, and rare nights out eat into the limited time we have to post. So here we are with a bit of catching up to do. Inevitably we won’t be able to write about everything we’ve sent, so we’ll do our best, and then try and catch up when we can.

We’ll kick things off properly with something brand new – this weekend ex Shrag / Blue Minkies member Steph Goodman released her debut solo album If You Know You Know. I could describe it as experimental DIY pop, but your best bet is to head over to Bandcamp and give it a listen:

New Brighton Music

It’s been a fortnight since we made a new music post, and as usual when it’s been slightly longer, somehow there’s disproportionately more tunes to write about (and that’s not counting the ones we’re missing out because the Spotify / WordPress plugin isn’t working for us these days). So without further ado, our first track this week is another new track from the upcoming GAPS album. If We Remain is the latest track the band have shared from As It Is, which comes out on 22nd June (according to the iTunes preorder page)
