They haven’t been quite as frequent in that period, but those that there have been we haven’t been able to make it along to. Here’s our now-officially-regular-again October gig preview post. And it’s only the 3rd October! It’s getting nearer to the start of the month every time we do one.
There’s a lot to see this weekend, and hopefully something for everyone. On Friday night (6th) you could opt for The Dials, who launch their album at the Hope & Ruin, accompanied by a lightshow by Innerstrings and also a DJ set by Steve Mason. Alternatively you could head to the Rosehill where Shona Foster plays with her new band, supported by Ellie Ford. Or you could head to the Prince Albert, where Sparrow (or should that be Sprrw these days?) launch their new album

It’s only been 10 days since our last New Music post, but somehow it feels like we’ve got a month’s worth of new music to share. Things are normally quiet in August, but the last couple of weeks have gone crazy. First up is the new single from Other States entitled Come Back To Me. Back to a normal sized New Music post this week, which doesn’t take me several evenings to write up. We’ve got plans for a new album roundup later this week too, so watch this space.
Our first track this week is Impossible Objects of Desire by Fujiya & Miyagi, taken from their self titled album, or EP3, depending on how much you like vinyl. Listening to the lyrical content of the track, I’d say that they’d probably describe it as being from EP3:
I had a thought this week that I should make all my new music posts on the same day of the week, and then they’d be New Music Mondays or something like that, but then I realised I could never be so organised as to organise my week like that, so we’re stuck with New Brighton Music as the post name, and they’ll come out as I manage to get the time in front of my computer. Anyway, our first track this week is from Dog in the Snow, a song called Magic taken from their upcoming album Consume Me due later this year:
January was a fairly quiet month for new music, so our second post of the year has taken until February. We’re going to start large, with one of the biggest bands from round these parts. Orbital are back with a track called Kinetic 2017, which is a remix of an Orbital side project release from 1992:
Happy New Year! Our first post of 2017 isn’t a new music post – nobody has sent us anything yet this year (although we have got a couple of things we missed last year that we need to catch up with). Instead we’ve got a preview of some gigs which caught our eye (a phrase specifically chosen to draw your attention to the beautiful flyers above). The last full week in January is Independent Venue Week and as part of that Love Thy Neighbour are putting on a trio of gigs that they’re calling Triptych. These aren’t just any gigs though – each night features three Brighton bands and is accompanied by it’s own super limited edition lathe cut vinyl release of the acts performing. Continue reading
