What’s the best thing about Brighton?
Forgetting how great Summers are here, then being reminded by Spring of what’s to come.
Who are the your favourite local bands?
I’ve been enjoying the latest Fear of Men album recently – they released it last year but I’ve only just got around to giving it a proper listen. I’ve not seen them play so will have to check them out next time they perform here.
What’s the best venue?
The Green Door Store for the venue, The Haunt or the Brighton Dome Studio Theatre for the sound.
What’s the best rehearsal space / studio?
Brighton Electric. I’ve heard great things about Small Pond recording studios so need to give that place a go when I start rehearsing for live shows again.
What’s the best club?
I’m a bit out of touch with clubbing now! I used to be a regular at The Volks and Audio (now Patterns). Now I’m getting nerdy and older – I prefer to play Risk 2210AD with friends while drinking and listening to music from the comfort of a chair at 1am on a Saturday night.
What’s the best record shop?
Resident.
Where’s the best places to eat?
Bincho Yakitori (very tasty Japanese) and Food For Friends (best cocktails and delicious veggie food) are my currently top of my list. One of my favourite things to do here is getting pizza at Franco Manca before watching a film at The Dukes Komedia.
What’s the best pub?
It was The Foundry but it’s recently closed! Such a shame, hopefully whoever takes it over will keep it as it was. At the moment The Dover is becoming a new favourite. Although you can’t fault sitting outside The Waggon & Horses on a sunny evening.
Who’s your favourite Brighton celebrity?
I saw the actor who plays SuperHanz in Peep Show with the most amazing puppy the other day. So he’s a clear winner.
When was the last time you had any Brighton Rock?
A very long time ago, not a fan.
Anneka’s Life Force EP is out now on Anti Ghost Moon Ray records
