Album News – Tyrannosaurus Dead, ZOFFF, FVNERALS, Bunty

We quite often put up blog post about new tracks, but we don’t post about new albums so much. Tonight’s post makes a small step to redressing that balance, rounding up a few bits of local album news.

First up is news about Flying Ant Day by Tyrannosaurus Dead, which came out on 10th November on Odd Box records. Yes, that was a fortnight ago, and we admit that we took our eyes off the ball on this one but in our defence, the band didn’t make any announcements on Twitter or Facebook on release day saying that it was actually out, and we seem to have dropped off their PR list. Anyway, by all accounts it’s a great album – Drowned in Sound gave it nine out of ten. Here’s the title track:

Next up is a new release from ZOFFF, psychedelic krautrock band assembled  from various members of Crayola Lectern, but not sounding anything like their alter identity. ZOFFF have played gigs around town as LSD25 and The Bad Black Dots, but have settled on ZOFFF as their name for their first full release. The launch party for the album takes place this thursday at Club Stramonium at The Hope where they support Knifeworld. Here’s a five minute snippet from the album:

If there’s a Brighton band who sound like their name it’s FVNERALS, whose album The Light comes out on December 1st. Don’t expect any Christmas cheer from this record though – The band’s sound is sombre and, well, funereal, and the album is laden with minor chords and large slabs of sound. At times though it shimmers with it’s majesty, and Tiga let’s a little light through the cracks. There aren’t any tracks that we can embed, but you can listen to album opener Oath over on Soundcloud, as well as another track from the album. FVNERALS are on the bill at Drill Festival taking place all over Brighton in a few weeks time.

Finally news of Bunty‘s Multimos album – the culmination of the Multimos project which was launched at Source New Music at the Dome Studio Theatre back in September 2012. The launch party will be a full on audio visual treat and is happening on 12th December at the Brighthelm Centre, and will feature an all new AV live show from Metaluna, and an audience choir.
