On Sunday night, the Self Help Group played the launch of their excellent new album Dead Stars to a packed Komedia studio bar. Brighton Music Blog were there to enjoy the experience, including the debut of new co-singer Ashley, a very pregnant Clara some young people on assorted strings and horns, and lead Selfie Mark Bruce with his humour turned up to ten. The songs on Dead Stars, as on their excellent first album ‘Not Waving, But Drowining’, are brilliant, further evidencing Mark’s ability to turn the weirdest stories into a great tune.
The next single is due to be the wonderful ‘Smile Club’ and the band have just put a call out for videos to contribute on their Facebook page.
Photograph evidence of the launch night is below.
You can buy Dead Stars via the Union Music website, out officially in all good record shops November 6th
And here’s support act, the excellent Jesse Will from New Zealand, playing some beautiful pop-folk, with a John Martyn kind of vibe.
